Journalist Mr Rajeev Bhattacharyya delivered a talk on ‘Travelling with the Insurgents’ at IDSA on August 26, 2013. Mr Bhattacharyya’s talk was based on a four-month assignment he undertook inside the jungles of Myanmar. During his trek, he met and interviewed a number of North-East insurgent groups, who have set up bases in that country and their leaders.

A round table on ‘UN Peacekeeping: Experiences of India and Brazil’ was organised at IDSA on August 19, 2013. The participants reviewed the changing nature of United Nations peacekeeping and discussed the role and experiences of India and Brazil.

Ambassador Arundhati Ghose delivered a 2013 Hiroshima/Nagasaki Commemoration Day Lecture at IDSA on August 13, 2013. The theme of the lecture was ‘Significance of 1945’.

A round table on ‘Defence Manpower related issues’ was organised at IDSA on August 12, 2013.

Brigadier Jaishankar delivered a talk on ‘Historical Perspective of Indian Soldiers in China’ at IDSA on August 1, 2013.

Dean, Georgetown University, Qatar, Dr Gerd Nonneman, Associate Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Brendan Hill, along with the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Amol Dani, called on Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta and discussed the proposals of academic cooperation between the two institutes. Gulf and Non-traditional security were identified as the two topics for academic research and co-operation. Dr Gupta handed over a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for co-operation. Research Fellows, IDSA, Ms Shebonti Ray Dadwal and Dr Meena Singh Roy were also present during the discussion.

A round table discussion on 'Iranian Nuclear Imbroglio: Exploring Scenarios' was organised at IDSA on July 23, 2013. The session was chaired by Ambassador Arundhati Ghose and the panellists included Ambassador Rakesh Sood, Ambassador KC Singh, Ambassador R Rajagopalan, Ambassador Sheelkant Sharma and Professor Rajesh Rajagopalan.

Deputy Head, Mission-Political Affairs, Embassy of the Czech Republic, Ms Andrea Kucerova met Director General IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta on July 23, 2013. Ms Kucerova informed Dr Gupta about the visit of senior official from the Czech Foreign Ministry to India for an AEAN meeting in September this year. She also requested for a discussion on Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and East Asia.

Senior Director ASSOCHAM, Mr Ajay Sharma, along with colleague, Mr Sahil Goswami, called on Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta, on July 22, 2013. They discussed issues related to the development of Defence Industry in India. Mr Sharma expressed keenness to discuss with IDSA, the industry’s perspective on defence manufacturing in India, in the context of government policies.

The French Ambassador, HE, Mr François Richier, called on Director General IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta, on July 22, 2013, and discussed the visit of the French Minister of Defence Mr Jean-Yves Le Drian and his lecture at IDSA on France's new White Paper on Defence and National Security.
