President, International Peace Institute to India (IPI), Mr Terje Rod Larsen, delivered a talk on ‘The Security Council: Challenges to its Functioning and Prospects for Reform’ at IDSA on November 7, 2013.
Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta presided over the event.

IDSA organised an interaction with a five member Taiwanese delegation on November 6, 2013. The delegation comprised following five members: Dr Tzong-Ho Bau - Vice chairman, Prospect Foundation, Department of Political Science, National Taiwan University; Mr Yang-Ming Sun - Vice President Prospect Foundation; Prof Edward I-Hsin Chen - Graduate Institute of the Americas, Tamkang University; Prof Wen-Hsien Vincent Chen - Graduate Institute of the Taiwan, National Chengchi University and Mr Yu-Hsun Chang - Program Coordinator, Prospect Foundation.

The first IDSA-MISIS bilateral dialogue was organised at IDSA on November 1, 2013. MISIS is Myanmar premier strategic think tank with which IDSA has signed a dialogue relationship.

With 80 per cent of the regional GDP and 70 per cent of South Asia’s population, “India has an important role to play in making regional cooperation possible”, said Defence Minister, Shri AK Antony in New Delhi today. Shri Antony was inaugurating the 7th South Asia Conference on ‘India & South Asia: Exploring Regional Perceptions’ organised by The Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) on October 30-31, 12013.

Vice Admiral (Retd) Anup Singh delivered a talk on ‘India's Maritime Domain: Untapped Opportunities’ on October 25, 2013. Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta presided over the talk.

A round table with the Delhi Journalist Association (DJI) on the ‘General Scenario in South Asia’, with special emphasis on the 7th South Asia Conference on ‘India & South Asia: Exploring Regional Perceptions’, was organised at IDSA on October 23, 2013.

A round table on 'Regional Nuclear Dynamics' was organised at IDSA on October 23, 2013, in association with the Asia-Pacific Leadership Network (APLN).

A National Conference of Indian think tanks was organised at IDSA on October 22, 2013. The participants debated on what constitutes India’s national interests; what is the range and depth of activities of Indian think tanks and whether there is a possibility of coordinating research activities and building synergies.

National Seminar on ‘Developing Indigenous Concepts and Vocabulary: Kautilya’s Arthashastra’ was organised by IDSA in collaboration with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), on October 8, 2013. National Security Advisor, Shri Shiv Shankar Menon delivered the keynote address.
