Norwegian Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr Oystein Bo, along with Norwegian Ambassador Eivind Homme and a 10-member team from the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, visited IDSA for an interaction on December 11, 2013.

Highlighting the strategic landscape in Northeast Asia, which is shifting due to the North Korean nuclear issue, His Excellency Cho Tae-yong, Special Representative (Vice Minister level), for Korean Peninsula Affairs, Republic of Korea said that North Korea must forgo nuclear weapons completely to bring about a viable solution to the problem. Mr Tae-yong was delivering a special address on ‘The Situation of the Korean Peninsula and the ROK Policy towards North Korea’ at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) on December 6, 2013.

New Delhi: India and Egypt can play a dominant role in shaping a new International order, said Hon'ble Foreign Minister of Egypt, Mr Nabil Fahmy, while delivering a talk on Developments in Egypt and the Region at the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) on December 5, 2013. The Minister appreciated India’s strategic stand towards the political changes in Egypt.

Head of Mission and Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), Lt Gen IS Singha delivered a talk on 'Situation in Syria and Role of Outside Powers' at IDSA on November 25, 2013.

The 2nd India- Africa Strategic Dialogue on ‘Common Security Challenges for the Next Decade: Perspectives from India and Africa’ was organised at the IDSA on November 18-19, 2013. The conference brought together prominent researchers and eminent persons from Africa and India to discuss and debate on issues of strategic relevance.

Mr Su Tin, Chairman, Social Vision Service (SVS), an NGO in Myanmar, delivered a talk on ‘Myanmar: Recent Internal Changes and Some Foreign Policy Trends’ at IDSA on November 18, 2013.

IDSA celebrated the 49th Foundation Day on November 9, 2013. The Foundation Day Address was delivered by Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia on ‘Indian Economy and National Security’. Ambassador Ronen Sen presided over the event.

President, International Peace Institute to India (IPI), Mr Terje Rod Larsen, delivered a talk on ‘The Security Council: Challenges to its Functioning and Prospects for Reform’ at IDSA on November 7, 2013.
Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta presided over the event.

IDSA organised an interaction with a five member Taiwanese delegation on November 6, 2013. The delegation comprised following five members: Dr Tzong-Ho Bau - Vice chairman, Prospect Foundation, Department of Political Science, National Taiwan University; Mr Yang-Ming Sun - Vice President Prospect Foundation; Prof Edward I-Hsin Chen - Graduate Institute of the Americas, Tamkang University; Prof Wen-Hsien Vincent Chen - Graduate Institute of the Taiwan, National Chengchi University and Mr Yu-Hsun Chang - Program Coordinator, Prospect Foundation.

The first IDSA-MISIS bilateral dialogue was organised at IDSA on November 1, 2013. MISIS is Myanmar premier strategic think tank with which IDSA has signed a dialogue relationship.
