IDSA is organising a two day conference on ‘The Geopolitics of the Arctic: Commerce, Governance and Policy’ in close co-operation with three Norwegian research institutions: the Fridtjof Nansen Institute (FNI), the Norwegian Institute for Defence Studies (IFS) and Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), on September 23. 2013. The conference is part of a three year research programme titled AsiArctic, analysing Asia's growing interest in Arctic affairs. It will conclude on September 24, 2013.

IDSA and the Indian Pugwash Society organised a talk by Ambassador Bhaswati Mukherjee on ‘Emerging Challenges to Chemical Weapons Regime’ on September 12, 2013. Director General, IDSA, Dr Arvind Gupta chaired the lecture. Ambassador Mukherjee is a former Permanent Representative of India to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
“Islamic discourse is at a nascent stage and has a long way to go” said Shri Talmiz Ahmad at the launch of the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) publication, ‘The Islamist Challenge in West Asia: Doctrinal and Political Competitions after the Arab Spring’, authored by him, on September 5, 2013. Speaking further on the publication, Shri Ahmed said “No political order is sustainable without Islam”.
