The evolution of the North East Frontier Agency (NEFA), now known as Arunachal Pradesh, from an unknown entity into one of India’s most prominent states, has been a long and arduous journey. To understand the factors that have shaped the destiny of Arunachal Pradesh State, Sonam Chombay (Citation2025), the Hydropower Commissioner of Arunachal Pradesh and Secretary to the current Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Pema Khandu, has delineated 14 pivotal historical events, which have led to the re-drawing of the territorial boundaries of the state, and significantly impacted the socio-cultural, economic, and political landscapes of the tribal communities and the state.
