Soviet Thinking on Asian Collective Security

The concept of a collective security system for Asia seems to have been firmly placed on the foreign policy agenda of the Soviet Government. Indeed, it has passed in the last year or so from the realm of a concept to that of an achievable goal of Soviet foreign policy. The conclusion is based on evidence that the concept has been fashioned into a projectional and bargaining item in Moscow’s diplomatic interactions with a variety of Asian countries. Furthermore, Soviet analysts have taken up the task of systematically projecting the idea of a collective Asian security system in their mass circulation newspapers and journals.
