Guidelines for an Oil Policy
Energy resources, and particularly oil, have become a major factor in the strategic debate all over the world. In this context, an oil policy for India assumes crucial significance, especially in view of the inadequate attention paid to this sector in the last decade. It will be presumptuous to attempt the formulation of an exhaustive or even a comprehensive oil policy in the course of an article. An attempt will, therefore, be made here to give only the broad guidelines on the issues of policy on which clarity is still lacking or where the policy has not been enforced for some reason or the other.
