he theory of Just and Unjust wars and the concept of Responsibility-to-Protect (R2P) have been central in the legal and political discourse surrounding the use of force. The recent conflict in Gaza has once again brought these issues to the fore. While both sides utilize legal arguments concerning aggression, self-defence, sovereignty, genocide, and self-determination, it is important to recognize that this dilemma of balancing adherence to international law with situational needs, is not new.
