The desire for self-reliance or the goal of ‘Atmanirbharta’ is not something novel to the policy discourse on development and growth. Nation states across the globe have time and again made a resolved effort to build a selfreliant nation led by visionary leadership, growing economic strengths and sustained governance reforms.
