On 31 August 2026, the Court of Arbitration (CoA) at The Hague ruled that the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) “remains fully in force” and that India’s April 2025 decision to place the Treaty in “abeyance” did not suspend its obligations under the agreement, says Dr Sinha.
