Contractual For a fixed term of three years including a probationary period of initial six months from the date of joining the Institute and this will not confer any right of permanence

Educational Qualifications ·         Master’s Degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation with at least 50% marks or its equivalent grade from any recognised university/ institute.

·         Computer Knowledge of MS- Office and library software.

Desirable Qualification ·         Master’s Degree in Library Science / Information Science / Documentation from any recognised university / institute.
Professional Experience ·         Experience of at least 5 years in capacity of Library Assistant in a library of any recognised university / institution of higher learning / library of a reputed research organisation.

·         Skilled in the usage of advanced library management software.

·         Knowledge of managing hybrid library with knowledge of electronic resources / databases, use of modern information tools and experience of providing top grade research oriented library services.

·         Excellent communication skills.

Overall Purpose and Role ·         To organise and manage one of India’s finest research library with a wealth of information in print and digital formats.
Job Description* The job profile inter-alia includes:

·         Acquisition, accessioning, cataloguing, classification, indexing, abstracting, and processing of library resources.

·         Management of print and electronic resources, including books, journals, databases, and digital library systems.

·         Maintenance and updating of library databases, Web-OPAC, and other library software.

·         Provision of reference, bibliography, Current Awareness Service (CAS), Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI), document delivery, and inter-library loan services.

·         Assisting users in accessing and utilizing library resources, databases, and online information systems.

·         Managing circulation activities, including issue/return of materials, borrower registration, and overdue reminders.

·         Conducting stock verification and maintaining library records and reports.

·         Supporting library outreach activities, exhibitions, book fairs, and institutional projects.

·         Performing any other duties assigned by the Institute from time to time.

General Information 1.    Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend written/skill test/ interview at MP-IDSA, Delhi

2.    Certificates in original are to be produced in support of educational and age eligibility (and category, if applicable) at the time of interview.

3.    Education qualification will be calculated as on last date of submission of application.

4.    Shortlisted outstation candidates will be paid AC- III tier rail fare on production of tickets, by the shortest route

5.    The Institute reserves the right to increase/ decrease the number of positions as also fill or not to fill any or all the positions advertised, based on the Institute’s requirements.

6.    The Institute reserves the right to offer a higher/lower position to a candidate who has been interviewed, based on his /her aptitude and Institute’s requirement, proviso to the required vacancy existing at the Institute (category wise), on the date of interview, and the candidate’s consent.

7.    The Institute reserves the right to cancel recruitment at any stage without assigning any reason.

8.    The prescribed essential qualifications are the minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for written test / interview. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible to called for written test / interview all the candidates, the Institute, at its discretion, may restrict the number of candidates to a reasonable limit on the basis of qualifications / experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement and other academic achievements and feedback on past performance.

9.    The Institute reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate(s) at any stage in the process of selection in case any inadvertent mistake is detected even after issue of appointment letter.

10. The Institute reserves the right to alter/insert any corrections/additions in the advertisement/ website in the event of any typographical error etc. before the last date prescribed for the receipt of applications, for which the candidates are advised to be in the lookout for announcements on the Institute’s website under ‘Join Us’ tab.

11. MP-IDSA reserves the right to relax the prescribed qualifications for candidates found more suitable for the position with relevant experience and expertise in the specified field.

12. PwD candidates applying against UR vacancies are allowed age relaxation as applicable to UR (PwD) only.

13. In case a candidate joins the Institute accepting the Terms and Conditions contained herein, she/he will be required to give an undertaking in writing that she/he will not apply for any appointment or course, part-time or full-time, without obtaining the written permission from the competent authority of the Institute. Also, while in service of the Institute, she/he will not engage in any trade or business or undertake any other full-time or part- time appointment.
