The volume under review is an outcome of an effort to understand the convergence of governance, conflict, and security in Africa. It contends that while there is a large body of work on conventional security threats, only some exist on other emerging threats to human security. While cases of armed insurgency have declined, other forms of violent conflict that endangered lives and property have increased. The book considers the shrinking of many African States as one of the main causes of this increase in violent conflicts.
