Membership

The IDSA offers membership to individuals (Indian Nationals) and institutions engaged or interested in defence, strategic and security studies. Membership activities are guided and monitored by the Membership Committee of the institute's Executive Council.

The subscription period for all categories of members (except Life Members) is April 01 to March 31. This is irrespective of the date on which subscription was paid during the previous year. All membership (except Life Membership) has to be renewed every financial year. Members can also pay in lump sum for a period of five or more years (max. 10 years) to draw a 5% concession on membership fee payable.

All Members are requested to pay membership due for the year 2013-2014. | All Library Users — Library Security Deposit has been revised to Rs. 2,000/- w.e.f. 01.04.2013. You are requested to pay the increase of Rs.1,000/- at your earliest to avail library facility.

The types of membership offered by IDSA are:

Life Membership

Life Members receive the Institute’s two journals Strategic Analysis and Strategic Digest, and are entitled to use IDSA library by depositing one time refundable non interest bearing security deposit of Rs.2000/- (except Life Members who are also Executive Council Members) and by virtue of being members of the General Body, Life Members have the right to vote. They have the privilege of attending the Institute’s Fellow Seminars. The Lifetime subscription fee is Rs.6000/-.

Member

(formerly known as Ordinary Membership)

Members and Life Members, form the General Body of the Institute. They have the right to vote, receive the Institute’s two journals Strategic Analysis and Strategic Digest. They can borrow books from IDSA library by depositing one time refundable non interest bearing security deposit of Rs.2000/-. They also have the privilege of attending the Institute’s Fellow Seminars. Subscription fee for this category is Rs.750/- a year.

Associate Membership

Associate Members are entitled to receive Strategic Digest only by paying a membership fee Rs. 200/- (w.e.f. 01 April, 2011). For purchasing Strategic Analysis they are required to pay Rs.300/- per annum. They can also use the IDSA library and borrow books by depositing one time refundable non interest bearing security deposit of Rs.2000/-.

Corporate Membership

Corporate Members receive the Institute’s two journals Strategic Analysis and Strategic Digest. A duly appointed representative of the Corporate (body) Member can use IDSA library and borrow books by depositing one time refundable non interest bearing security deposit of Rs.2000/-. The Corporate Member through its representative can attend the Institute’s Fellow Seminars. Annual subscription fee for this membership category is Rs.1,00,000/-.

Associate Corporate Membership is open to military units of the Indian Armed Forces. Associate Corporate members receive the Institute's journals -- Strategic Analysis and Strategic Digest. Annual subscription fee is Rs. 400/-.

This category is applicable only to serving military officers. They receive the Institute's two journals Strategic Analysis and Strategic Digest. They can also use the IDSA library and borrow books by depositing one time refundable non interest bearing security deposit of Rs.2000/-. Annual subscription for this category is Rs. 300/-.
