Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the new set of Confidence Building Measures across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir held recently at the foreign Ministers level of India and Pak have been hailed by the people and traders; and
(b) if so, the details thereof and response received so far?

(a) & (b) The Cross-Line of Control (LoC) Confidence Building Measures announced by the External Affairs Minister and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan during their meeting on July 27, 2011 in New Delhi are aimed at strengthening and streamlining trade and travel arrangements across the LoC. These measures are based on the demand of the people, including traders, on both sides of the LoC.
