Background

Narinder Gupta joined Indian defence Accounts Service in 1981. The officer has served in different positions both within and outside the dept. His last appointment in the dept before joining IDSA was I F A Border Roads. Prior to this, he served in various positions like IFA Western Naval command Mumbai; CDA CSD Mummbai; CDA Internal audit Delhi; CDA Army Meerut; Director Finance, credit and crops in the Ministry of agriculture and deputy secretary Ministry of planning.

Between 1976 to 1981, he taught in the dept of Public Administration and Economics to potgraduate students and guided them in research on different topics.
