UNSTARRED QUESTION NO 1126 INDIGENOUS CIVILIAN AIRCRAFT

Question: Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to satate :-

(a) whether the Government is planning to build its own civilian aircraft;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has given approval for creating a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project;

(d) if so, the details thereof including the arrangement worked out for the project; and

(e) the funds sanctioned for the purpose and the time by which the work on the project is likely to be commenced?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. It has been decided that a high level steering group under the Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council would be constituted to work out the modalities of the programme on civilian aircraft manufacture.

(c) No, Madam.

(d) & (e) Do not arise in view of (c) above.
