Q. No. 1757 Review of all agreements in light of Tatra truck dea

Question: Will the Minister of DEFENCE be pleased to satate :-

(a) whether it is a fact that in 2009, the then Defence Productions Secretary had put on a file detailed note about how Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) was being shown undue largesse in terms of purchases of Tatra trucks, hence calling for an urgent review of all contractual agreement;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) what action Government has taken in this regard?

(a) to (c): Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating into alleged irregularities committed in the BEML Tatra Trucks deal. It has registered a regular case on 30.3.2012, against one of the owners and unknown officials of a UK based Company, unknown officers of a Defence Public Sector Undertaking and unknown officers of Ministry of Defence and Indian Army.
