    SHRI YOGI ADITYA NATH:

    Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

    (a) whether the Government is aware of the anti-India sentiments prevailing in Nepal;
    (b) if so, the details thereof;
    (c) the organizations/persons responsible for fanning anti-India sentiments in Nepal; and
    (d) the steps taken/proposed to be taken by the Government to strengthen the relations between the two countries?

    ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SMT. PRENEET KAUR)

    (a) to (c) Government is aware of the anti-India sentiments in some sections of the Nepalese polity and society. India and Nepal have age-old civilisational ties. At the same time, as an open and free society, Nepal has people of various persuasions whose views on India are sometimes hostile.

    (d) India attaches the highest importance to its relations with Nepal, and has maintained the tradition of regular high level discipline, exchange of visits and deep rooted people-to-people contacts. India is assisting Nepal in its socio-economic development in the areas of infrastructure, health, water resources, rural and community development and education.
