For his doctoral dissertation, Mr. Amit Julka’s research looks at the role of mass common-sense in influencing foreign policy. Specifically, his case study is Indian foreign policy regarding Jammu and Kashmir from 1947-50. To recover mass common-sense, his research focuses on societal discourses in Hindi and Urdu from the period.
Before pursuing his PhD at National University, Singapore, he did his Masters in South Asian Area Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies, London.
Prior to his PhD, Mr. Julka has worked as a Project Assistant on the IDSA-DRDO Strategic Trends 2050 project, and as a Media Specialist at the American embassy in New Delhi.
