  • Reports noted that a two-day partnership dialogue between Bangladesh and the United States was held in Washington DC on September 19, 2012 to discuss further deepening of security, trade and development ties between the two countries. Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Mohamed Mijarul Quayes led the Bangladesh delegation of 15 members drawn up from different ministries while Wendy Sherman, US under secretary of state for political affairs led the US delegation at the dialogue. First of its kind, the dialogue is being held following the signing of a joint declaration on Bangladesh-US Partnership Dialogue on May 5 in Dhaka during US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit. 1
    In another developments, the US government handed over three metal shark ambulance boats to the Bangladesh Coast Guard in Chittagong to help provide treatment to the people in coastal areas.     In other develoepmts, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka on September 22 for the US to attend the 67th General Assembly of the United Nations. Hasina, who is leading the Bangladesh delegation at the UNGA, will address the GA on September 27. 3
