Venezuela’s first satellite is set to be launched from China on November 1. President Hugo Chavez stated that the launch would be an example for south-south cooperation. The orbiter, "Simon Bolivar," named after the 19th century Venezuelan independence hero, was built under contract by a Chinese firm1.
