  • Reports noted that evidence of anti-national activities had put the Bhutanese government on a red alert. The Ministry of Home and Cultural affairs advised government, corporate and other agencies to be on alert during the coronation celebrations even as the Sikkim police arrested a Nepali national with evidence that revealed plans for militant activities in Bhutan and Nepal1.

Bhutan was also drafting an economic policy to attract foreign investors to the country. Foreign investments in service and knowledge-based industries like information technology, health, and education were specially being encouraged2.
