Constitutional Draft Committee rejects proposal to extend date of presidential elections

  • The Constitutional Draft Committee of the Parliament rejected the proposal of a sub-committee to extend the deadline for the Presidential elections to be held in October 2008 by another three weeks. The dates for Parliamentary elections have also been brought forward to mid-February 2009. The Committee also proposed a form of Presidential immunity in the draft constitution1.
