Reports noted that the Indian Government extended the ban on LTTE by another two years following intelligence reports that remnants of the Sri Lankan Tamil terror outfit were trying to re-group in Tamil Nadu. According to a notification issued by the Union Home Ministry, even though LTTE has been "decimated in Sri Lanka, recent reports reveal that remnant LTTE cadres and leaders are regrouping in Tamil Nadu". The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam has been banned since 1992 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. 1

In another development, Sri Lanka’s International Monetary Cooperation Minister Sarath Amunugama said on May 30, 2012 that on completion of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Standby Arrangement (SBA) of US$2.6 billion in June, Sri Lanka will start negotiations with the IMF for another US$500 million Security Arrangement (SA). 2
