During his recent visit to Myanmar, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak met Myanmar’s iconic opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and expressed his appreciation for her decades-long fight for democracy and human rights in Myanmar. Lee’s visit seemed to be aimed at improving South Korea’s ties with resource rich Myanmar to widen its access to those resources, market potential and geopolitical position. 1
