  • Reports noted that Prime Minister's advisor T K A Nair on April 18 met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and reviewed the security scenario in the state. Nair was part of a high level delegation of the Union Government, which was on a day long visit to the state last week. Development schemes being implemented under Prime Minister Reconstruction Projects and other Central packages were discussed in detail with the Chief Minister. 1

    In another development, according to reports, the government on April 20 admitted that Chinese Army had erected three tents in Indian territory in Daulat Baig sector of Leh in Ladakh region and reinforcements have been rushed to the spot. The Indian Army maintains helipads and a gravel air strip in the Daulat Baig in the area and it is considered to be the highest airstrip in the world. Deputy Commissioner Leh, T Angchok confirmed that the Chinese have erected three tents in the area and they have come nearly eight kilometers inside. He also said that the administration came to know about the intrusion 15 days ago, but there was poor response from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) which mans the area. 2

    In other developments, according to reports, police on April 20 said that it arrested two Hizbul Mujahideen militants in South Kashmir. Superintendent of Police (SP, Operations), Zahid Malik said that the Police team lead by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Sangam apprehended one Molvi Yasir Hussain Bhat, an OGW of Hizbul-Mujahideen of Kralpora Saroor in Kishtiwar district. 3

    According to Police sources, a top commander of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) from Behrampora village of Sopore was killed in the nearby Tarzoo area in north Kashmir. 4
