Russia to continue arms supplies to Iran

  • Amidst concerns in the West over Russia’s controversial decision to sell advanced S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to Iran, Moscow on October 22 reiterated its intention to continue arms supplies to Tehran, “in strict accordance with existing legislation and its international obligations.” The statement by Russia's Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation came a few days after Interfax news agency quoted a Russian government official as stating that the delivery of “S-300 systems to Iran was frozen indefinitely due to an array of circumstances practically right after it was signed [in 2007].” 1
