Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan to get $23 billion for expanding its production; Uzbek Experts involved in Chemical Weapon Disarmament mission in Syria

  • According to reports, Tengiz, the oil and gas field located in northwestern Kazakhstan, will get a $23 billion boost from the Kazakhstan Government as it has approved its expansion project., Kurmangazy Iskaziyev, deputy chairman of Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas, has confirmed about this investment at the 21st Kazakhstan International Conference KIOGE-2013 held on October 2, 2013. 1

    In another development, according to reports, along with other experts from Organisation for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, a group of experts from Uzbekistan was also involved in the process of dismantle of chemical weapons in Syria. According to the global chemical weapons watchdog OPCW, a group of 33 experts from Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, China, Canada, the Netherlands and Tunisia were involved along with experts from Uzbekistan. 2
