Associate Fellow, IDSA, Dr Md Muddassir Quamar’s article on India’s options in the wake of the Syrian conflict, titled ‘Hot War in Syria and Options for India’ was published in the June 2018 edition of Defence and Security Alert.
Analysing the regional balance of power, the article suggests that India’s ability to maintain friendly relations with all regional adversaries, namely Saudi Arabia, Iran, Israel and Turkey and its ability to balance its relations between global powers, namely the US, Russia and China, will be severely tested, and India would do well to work with all stakeholders and multinational organisations to prevent the Syrian conflict to become a regional conflict.
