India is increasingly getting integrated with the global economy. Global uncertainty will affect India also. Recognising the importance of these factors, the Economic Survey 2011-12 for the first time had an entirely new chapter on India and the global economy. The economic survey points out that apart from domestic factors, global factors have also contributed significantly to India’s recent slowdown. A slowdown in the eurozone will affect both trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). High oil prices have created trade imbalance in the economy and put huge stress on the finances of Indian oil companies.
