    SHRI E.G. SUGAVANAM:

    Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

    (a) whether the Union Government has any proposal to restore ferry services from some of the Indian destinations to Sri Lanka;
    (b) if so, the details thereof; and
    (c) the time by which the above services are likely to be restored?

    ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (SMT. PRANEET KAUR)

    (a) to (c) Recognising the need to restore the traditional links between the two countries, in June 2010, India and Sri Lanka have agreed to resume the ferry services between Colombo and Tuticorin and between Talaimannar and Rameswaram. The draft agreement for Ferry Services has been finalised.
