Associate Fellow, Manohar Parrikar IDSA, Dr. Md. Muddassir Quamar spoke on ‘Indian Experience of Dealing with the ISIS Threat’ at the 3rd Annual Genocide Studies Conference (online) on ‘Genocidal Ideologies: Warning Signs and Prevention’, organised by the United States Naval War College, New Port, Rhode Island, on October 21, 2020.

Dr Quamar highlighted the hybrid genocidal ideology of ISIS and how despite the defeat of the group in Iraq and Syria, the ideology remains potent and the threat to South Asia remains intact. He underlined how India's two-pronged strategy of looking at it as a national security issue and involvement of the families and civil society and the syncratic culture practiced in India for ages minimised the spread of the ISIS ideology in the country.
