India, Japan Must Shift Strategies to Get U.N. Security Council Seat

    Research Fellow, Manohar Parrikar IDSA, Dr. Jagannath Panda's article on India and Japan’s bid for UNSC Seat, titled ‘India, Japan Must Shift Strategies to Get U.N. Security Council Seat’ has been published by Japan Forward, the English online edition of the Japanese newspaper, ‘The Sankei Shimbun’, on May 06, 2020.

    The Op-ed argues that an asymmetric alignment, while representing a lack of symmetry, must not be taken to mean a lack of balance. Combining the best of their strengths, a united India-Japan bid for permanent membership will gain broader support by powers like the U.S. for whom both nations are key Indo-Pacific partners.
