European satellite launch is delayed

  • The European Space Agency (ESA) announced that the launch of a satellite to monitor the Earth's gravitational field, scheduled for launch in northern Russia, was postponed to October 5 because of technical problems. The one-tonne satellite is the Gravity field and state-steady Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE)1.
