  • South Korea on September 7, conducted defence drills near Dokdo Island despite continued diplomatic stand off with Japan who also claims sovereignty over the island. South Korean Army, Navy and Coast Guard jointly carried out the drills. The exercise was reportedly conducted under the scenario in which Coast guards took the leading role in foiling foreign citizens’ invasion on the territorial waters near Dokdo or their any effort to land illegally in Dokdo. 1
