  • Reports noted that China’s top legislator Wu Bangguo started a two week tour to Iran, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Fiji. The primary aim is to consolidate economic and political ties. 1
    In another important development, China and Canada have signed a foreign investment promotion and protection accord. This was signed on the final day of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. 2 Meanwhile, President Hu Jintao also announced that the Asia-Pacific leaders meeting would be hosted by China in 2014. 3 The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit 2012 was organized in Vladivostok. The leaders discussed collective actions which can help in stable economic growth of the region. 4

    According to reports, the Diaoyu Island issue continues to hurt the China-Japan relations. President Hu Jintao urged the Japanese government to stop its plans of ‘nationalization’ of the Island. He also stated that Beijing will not recognize the ‘purchase’ of the Island. 5

    US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said that China and United States relationship is now based on a strong and solid basis. She said this during her meeting with President Hu Jintao. 6

    Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said stated that Beijing is opposed to any use of chemical weapons or military intervention in Syria. 7

    In other developments, Beijing has announced that it will successfully finish the construction of a digital managing system of its civil air defense by 2020. 8
