  • Suicide bombers and gunmen killed at least 56 people in dozens of attacks across Iraq. These attacks were mostly targeted at security forces. Iraq’s foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari said that insurgents are attempting to disseminate as much chaos as possible, as lawmakers struggle to form a new government and Americans withdraw troops. An Associated Press of Iraq confirmed that at least 265 security personnel which included Iraqi military, police and police recruits, and bodyguards have been killed from June through August, compared to 180 killed in the previous five months.1
