  • In a statement released by North Korean Policy department of the National Defense Commission on August 29, 2013, Pyongyang has urged both Seoul and Washington to halt their hostile behavior and hold dialogue with the North. While insisting that Pyongyang is exercising “utmost restraint”, the statement further states that the former is seriously thinking the possibility of implementing policies that could enhance peace in the region.1

In a significant development, both the Koreas have, on August 28, came to an agreement over the final details of creating a new joint committee to look after the functioning of the Gaesong factory park in North Korea.
