  • According to reports, the Minister of State for Defence Shri Jitendra Singh in a written reply in Lok Sabha on August 26 said that the supply of defence equipments to friendly foreign countries is considered on the basis of requests received from various countries and keeping in view various relevant factors. In the last three years, defence equipment has been supplied to various countries including Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles and Surinam.1

    According to reports, Defence Minister Shri AK Antony informed the Lok Sabha on August 26 that the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with Afghanistan signed on October 4, 2011 provides for security cooperation between the two countries under which India has agreed to assist, as mutually determined, in the training, equipping and capacity building programmes for the Afghan National Security Forces. India's assistance to Afghanistan in the defence sector is based upon specificrequests from the Government of Afghanistan.2
