Imam shot at in Rajouri; Clashes in old city

    According to reports, on August 14, 2012, unidentified gunmen shot at and injured an Imam in Rajouri district. The gunmen fired upon the Imam, Muhammad Taj, from a close range in Kotranka area. However, assailants managed to escape after carrying out the attack. 1

    In another development, according to reports, clashes erupted between police and protesters in Nowhatta area of old city after Friday prayers, leaving several people injured. Police and CRPF men deployed in the area fired teargas canisters and used batons to disperse the protesting people. The youth responded and started pelting stones. During the clashes, 12 persons including four policemen were injured. Police said that they exercised maximum restraint and one cop was injured in clashes. 2
