British naval shipbuilder BVT Surface Fleet and Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding has inked a deal to establish a joint venture for providing naval support services in the United Arab Emirates. The operation, Gulf Logistics and Naval Support (GLNS), will provide services and training capabilities to military and paramilitary forces of members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Egypt and Jordan. Abu Dhabi Shipbuilding will own 70 percent of the venture. The services that GLNS will offer include provision of spare parts, training, fleet maintenance activities, management of integrated logistics support and operation of workshops and warehouses1.
