    According to reports, a Chinese fleet of marine surveillance ships conducted regular patrols in waters around the Diaoyu Islands on June 22, State Oceanic Administration (SOA) said in a statement. The fleet consisted of Haijian 51, Haijian 23 and Haijian 49. 1
    In another development, reports noted that President Xi Jinping has asked the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) to implement the “mass line” campaign in order to build a strong army. “Mass Line” as discussed by the Communist Party of China (CPC) refers to guidelines by which priority is given to the interests of the people. 2
    Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with the first Vice Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Kye Gwan. They discussed the current situation on the Peninsula and the resumption of the six-party talks. 3
    Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said that the Philippines’ seizure of Ren’ai Reef in the South China Sea is unacceptable to China. She further added that China has indisputable sovereignty over Nansha Islands and its surrounding waters, which includes the Ren’ai Reef. 4
    China and Vietnam have agreed to maintain frequent communication on maritime issues. Both sides also agreed to conduct regular communications and dialogues in order to properly solve the maritime issues. 5
    Reports noted that Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met wit the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on June 20. Li hailed the role of the UN in safeguarding world peace and also promoting prosperity for the past sixty years and more. 6
    Expressing hope for resumption of the six-party talks at an early date, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying stated, “We hope that the relevant parties can seize the opportunity and meet each other half way, so as to create condition for an early resumption of the six-party talks”. 7
    Reports noted that Chinese and Russian Special Forces concluded a ten day training exercise called the “Cooperation 2013”. Forces from both sides had training in shooting, forced entry, hostage rescue and terrorist camp raids. 8
    According to reports, top Chinese legislator Zhang Dejiang met with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang on June 20 in Beijing. During the meeting Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said that the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi and Vietnamese President Sang has added fresh impetus to the long-tern development of China-Vietnam relations. 9
    Reports noted that China successfully conducted taking off and landing exercises of J 15 jets on the country’s first aircraft carrier Liaoning. This is the second time China has successfully conducted such exercises. 10
    In other developments, according to reports, Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with a delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) headed by its General Secretary Prakash Karat. Li said during the meeting that China and India are close neighbours and their relationship has made new progress since the beginning of the year 2013. 11
    Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met with the Cuban First Vice-president Miguel Diaz-Canel on June 18. Li pledged for further boost in the cooperation between the two countries. Li also hailed the traditional friendship between the two countries. 12
    Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the speculations that the NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden might have been spying for Beijing is totally unsound. She stated, “Such a notion is totally groundless”. 13
    Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying extended congratulations to Hassan Rouhani after he won the Iranian presidential elections. 14
