ISRAEL/PALESTINE
According to reports, Israeli Deputy Premier Shaul Mofaz has urged Palestinians to drop the preconditions for peace talks so that negotiations can resume. Both Mofaz and PLO negotiator held talks with US officials in Washington to discuss revival of stalled peace talks. Mofaz has said that the preconditions are an obstacle and that upcoming negotiations must and will be restarted without any preconditions. The Palestinian conditions for resuming peace talks are: cessation of settlement construction, and recognition of pre-1967 borders as the future borders of a Palestinian state. 1
