  • Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has appointed Mohammad Aliabadi as the caretaker oil minister after the dismissal of Masoud Mirkazemi. Aliabadi is to represent the country in the 159th OPEC meeting scheduled in Vienna on June 8. It is worth noting that under the Fifth Five-Year Development Plan (2010-2015) of Iran, the Iranian government is obliged to reduce its ministries form 21 to 17 in order to officially improve the efficiency of state administration. However, criticized the appointment of Aliabadi has been criticized by Iranian lawmaker, the Majlis. According to Majlis Energy Committee Chairman Hamid-Reza Katouzian said “this is the worst choice for the oil and gas industry, and such decisions endanger the country.” 1
