Bhutanese refugees resettlement progressing; King Wangchuk calls for moving towards a vibrant democracy

  • Reports noted that the resettlement drive for Bhutanese refugees was progressing fast, with around 65 Bhutanese having made their way to the United States1.

    Meanwhile, in his first address to the parliament, the Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk called for moving forward towards a vibrant democracy2.

    In other developments, the Bhutan National Environmental Commission set standards for around one hundred and twenty industries in Bhutan to follow certain industrial emission standards. According to the deputy minister of the Commission, the industries not complying with the regulations would be “fined or shut down3.”
