  • According to reports, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay official visits to Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei from April 30 to May 5.1

    Reports noted that China on April 26 rejected an attempt by the Philippines to seek an international arbitration tribunal verdict on the South China Sea issue, urging Manila to solve the problem through bilateral negotiation. 2

    China’s top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng has said that negotiations serve as a major channel for the mainland and Taiwan to realize the peaceful development of the cross-strait relations. 3
    According to reports, the Ministry of National Defence has rejected the foreign media reports stating that there has been a border tension between India and China. China has asserted that both the countries’ border troops are still communicating and coordination through the existing channels. Media reports of Chinese border troops, military planes and helicopters crossing the Line of Actual Control into Indian side are "not true", ministry spokesman Yang Yujun said at a regular monthly news conference. 4
    In other developments, according to reports, China’s military spokesman has confirmed that Beijing’s first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning is set to conduct a voyage on the high seas. 5

    Reports noted that a Chinese surveillance fleet patrolling waters near the Diaoyu Islands successfully expelled several Japanese ships illegally entering the waters on April 23, a statement released on the official website of the State Oceanic Administration said. 6
