  • Boeing Co, the US aircraft manufacturer, is expected to bid for two defence deals with India worth $2 billion. The company plans to supply the IAF 22 attack helicopters and a dozen heavy-lift choppers to replace the ageing Soviet-era fleets. It is keen to offer Apache AH-64 helicopters and Chinook CH-47 to fulfil these tasks. Boeing has already obtained a $2.1 billion project to supply the Indian Navy 8 maritime patrol aircraft. India on its part intends to spend more than $30 billion over the next five years to modernise its largely Soviet-era weapons systems1.
