  • Israel successfully tested its ‘Iron Dome’ defence system against short-range rockets. The system is developed by RAFAEL Armament Development Authority Ltd. in association with ELTA Systems, a subsidiary of the Israel Aerospace Industry. The Iron Dome is a mobile defence system designed to counter short-range rockets and 155mm artillery shell threats, fired from distance of up to approximately 70 km. The system is meant to protect Israeli citizens from missile attacks such as Qassams and the more advanced rockets, such as the Katyushas, frequently used by the Hamas and Hezbollah from Gaza Strip and Lebanon. The System can be operated both during day and night, under all weather conditions1.
