India and Kazakhstan decide to sign a deal on Satpayev oil block

  • The seventh meeting of the India-Kazakhstan Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological, Industrial and Cultural Cooperation was held at Astana from March 12-13. Petroleum Minister Murli Deora led the Indian delegation while the Kazakh delegation was led by Sauat Mynbayev, the Minister for Energy and Mineral Resources. Both sides agreed to sign a exploration and production agreement for the Satpayev oil block in the Caspian Sea at an “early date before the new subsoil use law is adopted in Kazakhstan1.”
