  • Denouncing terrorism, several Muslim groups in India adopted a declaration calling it un-Islamic and against the Islamic principle of peace. The declaration was adopted at the Anti-terrorism Conference organised by the Islamic Seminary Darul Uloom at Deoband in Uttar Pradesh on February 25. The conference, however, criticised attempts to malign Muslims and madrassas. "Islam is a religion of mercy for all humanity. Islam sternly condemns all kinds of oppression, violence and terrorism. It has regarded oppression, mischief, rioting and murder among severest sins and crimes," said the declaration1.

Meanwhile, Newindpress has reported that People’s March magazine, which is suspected to be the mouthpiece of the Communist Party of India – Maoist (CPI-Maoist), has been banned by the Ernakulam district administration in Kerala2.
